From the Airport

  • Taxi: You will have no problem at all finding a taxi once you reach the arrivals Terminal. Estimated time: 30 minutes.
  • Subway: Line 5 to the end of the line (Neptú station). There is a subway station in the arrivals terminal. Estimated time: 45 minutes.
  • Car: Follow the signs for Valencia, turn off following the exit airport signs and follow the directions as though you were travelling from Madrid.
 

By Car

  • From Madrid
    Take the A3 towards Valencia. The Madrid road accesses Valencia via the “Avenida del Cid”. Take this Avenue. After 700m you will come to a tunnel. Do not take that tunnel, go above it. Turn left down “Avenida Tres Cruces” at the first crossing, going around the University´s General Hospital. Continue straight on down this Avenue. The Avenue changes name various times on route (Boulevar Sur, Avenida del Pianista Martinez Carrasco). Cross the bridge over the railway lines, after 1Km go through the tunnel. Continue along “Avenida Antonio Ferrandis” for a further 1.6Km. Cross the Grao Bridge over the original path of the river Túria. Drive along “Avenida Menorca” for another 1.1 Km. Turn right for the “Avenida del Puerto”. At the end of the Avenue del Puerto, turn left to go down J.J. Domine street. At the end of the street take the first exit off the roundabout and turn down Doctor Marcos Sopena Street to the end (300m). Turn left at the roundabout and go down Eugenia Viñes Street. After 400m you will arrive at the hotel.

  • From Barcelona
    Take the A7 towards Valencia. You will enter Valencia via the “Avenida Cataluña”. Take the third exit off the roundabout to go down “Avenida de los Naranjos. Drive to the end of the Avenida de los Naranjos (2,3Km). At the end of the Avenue you will find a hospital where you have to turn right down Eugenia Viñes Street. After 600M you will arrive at the hotel.

  • From Alicante
    Take the V-31 Motorway heading towards Valencia. Enter Valencia and take the first exit off the roundabout in order to go down “Avenida del Actor Antonio Ferrandis” for a further 1.6Km. Cross the Grao Bridge over the original path of the river Túria. Drive along “Avenida Menorca” for another 1.1 Km. Turn right for the “Avenida del Puerto”. At the end of the Avenue del Puerto, turn left to go down J.J. Domine street. Shuttle service
For the participants of Course 2, 3 and 5, a bus transfer will be provided on:

  • Tuesday morning, September 21, 08.30 hrs sharp: Hotel Las Arenas - Centro de Investigación Principe Felipe
  • Wednesday afternoon, 22 September, 15.30 hrs: Centro de Investigación Principe Felipe - Hotel Las Arenas
No transfer will be provided on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. The Centro de Investigación Principe Felipe can be easily reached by public transport, see further below.
   
 

Taxi
Taxis in Valencia are readily available and not expensive. They are white and a green illuminated light on the top of the taxi indicates that it's free. To hail a taxi all you only need to do is to raise your hand.

   
 

Public transport
Valencia has an excellent metro and bus network and it is the preferred way of getting around (if it's not easier to walk, that is).

To Hotel Las Arenas

  • Metro: no. 5, stop Neptú or no. 6, stop Mediterrani
  • Bus: no. 20, 22, 23: stops Passeig de Neptú or Mediterrania
 

To Centro Principe Felipe (next to the Oceanogràfic)

  • Bus: 15, 23 and 95, stop Autopista Saler 16-Centre Investigacio
  • Bus 35, stop Museu de las Sciences (City of Arts & Sciences). From there, it is a 10 minutes’ walk. Follow the signs to the Oceanogràfic, pass the main entrance of the Oceonogràphic, continue until you see the centre at your left hand side.
 

To Oceanogràfic

  • Bus: 15, 23 and 95, stop Oceanogràfic
  • Bus 35, stop Museu de las Sciences (City of Arts & Sciences). From there, it is a 10 minutes’ walk. Follow the signs to the Oceanogràfic.
 

You can buy tickets for 1 single trip, or discount cards. Except for the 1-trip tickets the travel cards are available at tobacconists, authorized kiosks and metro stations. Bus combination cards must be validated each time you get on the bus by scanning it at the validation machine located next to the driver.
